Irish cream is my favorite liqueur; it’s delicious and creamy and perfect in coffee or hot chocolate! Did you know that you can make your own homemade Irish cream liqueur in just a few minutes?! It’s way less expensive than buying a bottle from the store, and it tastes just as good!
How To Make Homemade Irish Cream Liqueur
Makes about 32 oz.
Ingredients:
- 1 C heavy cream
- 1 t cocoa powder (can substitute 2 T chocolate syrup if you wish)
- 1 ½ t instant coffee granules
- 1 C to 1 ½ C Irish whiskey
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
Directions:
Whisk together the cocoa powder, coffee granules, and about a tablespoon of cream until the powder and granules are completely dissolved and mixed in.
Slowly stir in the rest of the cream, making sure it’s mixed well.
Add the whiskey, vanilla, and condensed milk and whisk until completely combined.
Pour the mixture into an airtight container and store in the fridge. It will keep for about 2 weeks.
When you’re ready to serve, pour it in a glass over ice, or add it to coffee or hot chocolate!

I’ve been making homemade Bailey’s for so long I’ve begun making different flavors! If you leave out the coffee and add a half pint of “99 Butterscotch” it’s fantastic! Don’t drive though! Also, cherry Brandy makes a fine chocolate covered cherry Bailey’s!!! Try it!!!

Please can you tell me if the T is teaspoon or tablespoon?
Jessi Wohlwend says
Capital T is tablespoon, lowercase t is teaspoon.

If you used a shelf stable, or ultra pasteurized cream would it store longer?
Jessi Wohlwend says
Yeah it probably would!

I have been making Irish cream for many years, my recipe is almost the same as yours. Next time you make it try adding one teaspoon of almond essence. the taste and aroma is so much better.
Jessi Wohlwend says
Great idea! I’ll try that next time!

Ooh, this looks good. I noticed that you said it can store for up to two weeks — is it ready to drink as soon as you’ve mixed it together though?
Visiting from the show and tell link-up!
Jessi Wohlwend says
Yep, ready to drink immediately! Though if you want it cold, just stick it in the fridge for a little while first!

I found an old recipe for Irish cream and it called for three eggs do you they would add egg to your basic recipe or should I omit
Jessi Wohlwend says
The eggs will just make it thicker and creamier, so you can totally add them if you’d like!
